Born 1974 near Hamburg, Germany I got in contact with angling in the age of three. A little later my first fish – an eal – was caught.

In the age of five - supported by my grandfather, I caught the first sea trout in my life from a sailing boat on the Baltic Sea. This very moment was the beginning of my true passion about sea trout fishing, what should be proven later on.

Discovering fly fishing aged twelve, my first catch was an Ide on dry fly. From now on fly fishing became more and more my favorite kind of fishing.
In the beginning of the nineties "fly only" turned out to be my way, based on my  first fly caught sea trout.

I travelled around gaining increasing experience in fly fishing. Mainly I fished for sea trout and Atlantic salmon in Denmark, Sweden and Norway as well as for various fish species in places like the Bahamas, Florida Keys, Los Roques, the USA, Slovenia, Austria and other European countries.

Over the years the main focus of my activities consisted of fly fishing around the Baltic Sea coast and salmon fishing on numerous rivers of Norway.  I specialized in catching big sea trouts.

Besides all different fields in fly fishing, e.g. building my own rods and fly tying, the main point of my interest was fly casting, immediately from the beginning.
Participating at several fly casting courses by both national and international renowned fly casting instructors as well as exchanging knowledge with many fly casting experts extended my expertise considerably.

Special thanks to Bernd Czerr (D), Thomas Ellerbrock (D), Uwe Rieder (A), Sepp Fuchs (NL), Mel Krieger (USA), Göran Andersson (S), Carlos Azpilicueta (E), Alejandro Vinuales (E), Lasse Karlsson (DK), Henrik Mortensen (USA), Ronald Windl (A), Günter Feuerstein (CH), Roman Moser (A), Valerio Santagostino (I), Roberto Pragliola (I), Aitor Coteron (E), Jupp Verstraten (D), Paul Arden (GB), Stefan Siikavara (S), Menno van Dam (NL), Michael Mauri (D), Erhard Loidl (A), Hans Spinnler (CH), Stig Hansen (DK), Bruce Richards (USA), Floyd Dean (USA), Steve Rajeff (USA), Bob Jacklin (USA), Knut

Since the end of the nineties, I am teaching both single and double hand fly casting. This is where I am profiting of the ten years experience in my original profession as instructor for chemical technicians.  I successfully passed the FFF and AAPGAI Master Fly Casting Instructor exam as well as other fly casting instructor exams.

Yet my fly fishing seminars took place in Germany, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and the USA.
Staying in contact with national and international renowned fly fishermen helps me to keep my knowledge consistently up to date.

Especially fishing together with Ken Sawada (J), Roland Holmberg (S), Jonas Hammersted (N), Walter Reisinger (A), Erhard Loidl (A), Thomas Michael (D), Hans Steinfort (D), Mel Krieger (USA), Uwe Rieder (A), Capt. John Dickinson (USA) and Thomas Dürkop (D) helped me to learn a lot of different fishing techniques for many different fish species.

Amongst other publications I wrote articles for over ten years for the German fly fishing magazine „Der Fliegenfischer“.

Setting up my own fly fishing school First-Cast was the start to professional full time work in teaching all fields of fly fishing. The First-Cast program includes fishing trips, casting courses, workshops and demos, tying lessons and councelling on tackle adjustments in general.

In 2008 I became one of the two founders of the German Fly Festival. Our first fly fishing show turned out to be the biggest fly fishing event in the northern part of Germany ever.

The biggest part of my life is designated to fly fishing and my special thanks go to all fishing buddies who shared that beautiful moments with me; especially to all of my students.
